My Gypsy Life |
I travel (a lot), live in New York, and love photography. All photos are mine unless noted otherwise. Check more of them out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mygypsylife. |
I too can eat with chopsticks…mmm breakfast!
This is the section I like to call…”what is this?”
I’m really coming to terms that I’m no Bourdain.
I’ve had endless varieties of meat placed in front of me at traditional Chinese dinners…pork belly, pork on crispy noodles, pork in soup with more pork, frog legs with lotus root, duck tongue, chicken with spicy red peppers, and porkporkpork. None of which I’ve eaten for fear of that immediate sickness that may occur after almost 20 years of no meat.
I did try the jellyfish! It was spotted and crunchy.
I’ve found my downfall…its basically a saltine cracker smore
I got upgraded to first class this time again. Breakfast was served and although I barely eat airline food, I was excited at the yogurt prospect placed in front of me. Rookie mistake, this stuff tastes horrible. When there is too much marketing of a product, its a skip go situation. Not recommended.
After a day of snow, we woke up to sun.
First stop, brunch at Savannah’s Riverfront. Down the cobblestone streets and our own amateur photo-shoot on Factors Walk we ended up at Huey’s…touristy, but opt for a table near the window to people watch. Try the bloody mary’s, the parmesan garlic grits, and the beignets…they melt in your mouth.
Afterwards, we headed to a bustling Savannah Candy Kitchen for sweets galore and a praline sample.
Leaving the tourist madness, we popped into the cute Cafe Ambrosia (see earlier post). With coffee in hand, a turn down Abercorn Street provided us access to Colonial Park Cemetery, Cathedral of St John the Baptist, and Forsyth Park as well as empty canopy roads. Check out the gift shop at SCAD on the corner of Bull and Charlton. More of my photos here.

For dinner, we found Cha Bella which prides itself on organic and locally grown food…right up my alley. I did enjoy the sea bass with parmesan grits (actually I couldn’t get enough). However, I felt the price point for most items were high, too high actually. The decor and the atmosphere made me feel uncomfortable…something just didn’t match.
More about Sunday’s adventures to Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island soon.

I have a confession to make: I do not share my fries. Ever. Don’t even try. Nasty side-eyes are given if you ask. Really.
When left to my own devices for a weekend, I will end up eating peanut M&Ms and watching old slasher movies in an Econo Lodge in Harpers Ferry,...
neon, neutrals and a pop of turq on this fine spring day.

A nice lineup.
